I live in an older one level townhome built on an asphalt slab, meaning no basement. It became obvious that I had a leaking hot water pipe located under the slab that had to be repaired. I was fairly certain the leaking pipe was located under the kitchen floor, as some of the floor was warm to the touch. However, I opted to take the cautious route & have American Leak Detection find the leak location using high tech sound gear, before any digging began. Travis & Justin arrived right on time & spent the next hour & a half finding my leak. It was a two-man job for sure as they had to call for certain signals & pressures from one end of the piping system to the other. They found the leak under the kitchen floor & marked it with a duct tape "X." When the plumbing company who did the repair came in, they found the leak about a foot away from the "X," but the plumber said American Leak Detection did a fine job as the pipe was two feet down under the asphalt & soil. Although I spent the $350 & the leak was pretty much where we thought, I do not regret having taken that step. By the way, the $350 is the standard flat rate for this job for this company. I asked & was assured ahead of time that if the guys came in & the evaluation was not a lengthy process, I would be charged the service call fee of $150 instead of the $350. Travis & Justin were terrific to have in my home. They did not make me feel uncomfortable in the least.
